On January 13, School of Cyber Science and Engineering held a meeting on the application for National Natural Science Foundation of China at Room 213, Computer Building. Three experts were invited, i.e., Prof. Tao Xianping, Deputy Director of Department of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Prof. Tang Jinhui, Vice Dean of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Wang Liangmin, Dean of School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering, Jiangsu University. The meeting was presided by Associate Chair Cao Jiuxin. A dozen teachers who prepared to apply for the annual foundation were present.
At the meeting, Associate Chair Cao Jiuxin warmly welcomed the three experts, each of whom then shared with audience their experiences and thoughts on applying for National Natural Science Foundation.
Prof. Wang talked about some key points including the application form, writing order and several tips from the perspective of judges. Prof. Tao emphasized on the importance of research background and methodology. While Prof. Tang focused on the writing of an abstract, research content, technical roadmap, and project basis.
The experts also offered suggestions and advice to the teachers who were going to make an application after they introduced their project ideas.
Finally, Xiao Junqing, one of our teachers talked out the motives, difficulties of an application, choice of research, preliminary preparations, and the writing techniques based on his own experiences. While Li Guyue shared with the audience her experiences in applying for National Natural Science Youth Foundation of China and focused on the creativity, feasibility, and relevance of a project.
This meeting was a beginning of our work on the application for National Natural Science Foundation in the new year. School of Cyber Science and Engineering will make every effort to ensure the quality of applications, anticipating a great success in 2019.
