I. Overiew

The discipline of the Cyber Science and Engineering is a newly authorized 1st level discipline and is currently the key discipline of Jiangsu province. The discipline is authorized to issue doctoral and master degrees. The faculty of the school consists of 62 members, including 21 professors, 25 associate professors, 19 doctoral advisors and 16 youth lecturers with doctoral degrees. The groups are promising and energetic with excellent research conditions. The research covers the area of wireless communication security, IoT security, complex network security, cyberspace security monitoring and protection, anonymous communication and privacy protection. The discipline is currently composed of Jiangsu Province Key Laboratory of network and information security and SEU Information Security Research Center, and has led or completed various projects from National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), The National Natural Science Foundation of China, Special Issues on Information Security of Development and Reform Commission, Provincial departments and enterprises. The school has successfully multiple provincial and national scientific and technological achievement awards and has dozens national invention patents as well as software copyrights. The school has established deep and stable cooperation on R&D with a series of both domestic and international business/organizations.

II. Objectives

        Doctoral students are required to possess solid and in-depth theoretical foundation while also remain keen and active on the global frontier. Modern experimental methods and skills of the discipline are needed. Be rigorous and prudent towards academic and research activities and willing to participate in the teamwork. Be able to perform research work independently in the related areas and can achieve substantial as well as original contribution. Skillfully master a foreign language and can participate in international academic activities. Capable of teaching and leading R&D works in the area of cyberspace science and engineering.

IV. Time limit

        On average Ph.D. students finish all requirements in 3 to 4 years. The maximum extension is to 6 years.

V. Dissertation

        Literature survey

        At least 80 papers, including 50 English papers, in the selected area.

       Composing

       Besides strictly following the regulation of the university, a dissertation must be a systematic and comprehensive academic paper with: precise concepts, correct argument, rigorous statement, accurate calculation, reliable data, distinct structure, concise and smooth writing, clean charts and regulated format.

       Level

     A dissertation should be comprehensive and thorough and meet the following requirements: the research work should be original, among which part of it should be state-of-the-art with wide-scope; the outcomes of the research work must contain novel discovery and interpretations, and have guiding significance for the development of the discipline; the research work regarding the dissertation must be no shorter than 2 years; a doctoral candidate must publish 3 papers in the core journals including 1 SCI indexed before applying for the degree.
