On April 29, the 16th Southeast University "My Favorite Graduate Supervisor" selection concluded successfully at Runliang Lecture Hall on the Jiulonghu Campus. After student representative presentations and voting by faculty and public judges, ten graduate supervisors were selected from 26 candidates nominated by schools and departments across the university. Professor Wu Hua of the School of Cyber Science and Engineering stood out among the nominees through her strong academic expertise, proven record in student development, and warm, caring approach to teaching, and was named a "My Favorite Graduate Supervisor" at Southeast University.
Professor Wu has long conducted research on encrypted traffic analysis and cyber situational awareness. Her research closely aligns with national cybersecurity strategic needs. She has led or participated in multiple projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, and provincial- and ministerial-level programs. Her honors include the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Award and the First Prize of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. Professor Wu has been granted more than 30 invention patents in China and abroad, and multiple research outcomes have been applied in industry.
Over 23 years of teaching, Professor Wu has remained at the forefront of cultivating outstanding cybersecurity talent. She has developed a talent-cultivation system aligned with national strategic needs, received multiple university-level teaching achievement awards, co-authored several high-quality textbooks, and mentored more than 100 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. Students under her supervision have repeatedly achieved strong results in national disciplinary competitions.
In the process of talent cultivation, Professor Wu guides academic directions with rigorous scholarship, supports student growth with warmth and care, and fosters students' character through personal example. Her work fully reflects the professional ethics, teaching excellence, and commitment to student development exemplified by the School's outstanding faculty.
