The School of Cyber Science and Engineering at Southeast University (SEU) was successfully selected for the construction list of provincial first-class cybersecurity schools, underscoring its role as a provincial benchmark in cyberspace security.
Always committed to serving the national strategy of building China into a cyber power, the School has thoroughly implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important directive to “build world-class schools of cyberspace security.” Over the years, it has achieved a series of milestones: becoming one of the first institutions authorized to offer PhD programs in the first-level discipline of Cyberspace Security in 2016; being selected for the inaugural "Demonstration Project for the Construction of First-Class Cybersecurity Schools" in 2017; establishing the "Research Base for International Governance of Cyberspace" in 2018; joining the Ministry of Education's "Double Ten-Thousand Plan" for first-class undergraduate programs in 2019; being selected again for a new round of the demonstration project in 2024; and being approved as a "National Cybersecurity and Informatization Talent Training Base" in 2025. After a decade of pioneering efforts, the School has grown into a vanguard among cybersecurity disciplines in Chinese universities.
Looking ahead, the School will leverage this provincial first-class designation as an opportunity to further deepen comprehensive reforms across discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and industry-education integration. By continuously enhancing its academic competitiveness and the quality of talent cultivation, the School aims to become a domestically leading and internationally influential institution, contributing SEU's expertise and strength to fortifying the nation's cybersecurity barrier.
