At the invitation of Associate Professor Cao Yang of the School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Professor Tasawar Hayat of Quaid-i-Azam University, an internationally renowned applied mathematician and Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), visited the School with his team on December 17 for academic exchange.
During the visit, Professor Hayat toured the School's facilities and several specialized laboratories. He engaged in discussions with young faculty members and graduate student representatives, gaining an in-depth understanding of the School’s development history and current research progress in related fields. Furthermore, both sides held a thematic seminar on the interdisciplinary integration of cybersecurity and applied mathematics. The seminar broadened research perspectives and provided new inspiration and insights for the faculty and students in their research, work, and studies, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Notably, Professor Hayat obtained his M.Phil. in Wave Dynamics in 1994 and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 1999, both from Quaid-i-Azam University. He serves on the Special Committee, the Project Management and Evaluation Committee, and the Research Awards Committee of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, and is a lifetime member of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany. As part of his academic service, Professor Hayat serves as a reviewer for 75 international academic journals, includingPhysics Letters A. His outstanding contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the TWAS Young Scientist Award for the South (2000), the Distinguished National Professor Award from the HEC of Pakistan, the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (2005) and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (2010) medals conferred by the President of Pakistan, and the Outstanding Scientist of the Year Award from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2010).
